The Ford Explorer VS The Competition

Whether you are buying a new car or a new smartphone, drivers in the Thousand Oaks area like to know what they are getting before they make a purchase. So, many drivers do a little research before going to the dealership to go for a test drive. Drivers want to see what features the new car, truck, or SUV has to offer. It is also a good idea to check out the competition to see what features they have to offer and if those features are standard or cost extra. But with so much information on the internet you could spend hours comparing different vehicles and trim levels trying to decide which vehicle is best for you. Which is why Simi Valley Ford already did the research so our customers in the Moorpark area can easily find the information they are looking for and make a well-informed decision. So today we are comparing the Chevrolet Traverse and Toyota Highlander to the Ford Explorer in a battle of the family-friendly SUVs.

Ford Explorer vs. Chevy Traverse

When it comes to an efficient and powerful performance the Ford Explorer out does the Chevrolet Traverse. Not only does the Chevrolet Traverse have only one powertrain option that is less efficient than the Ford Explorer but it the Traverse isn't as powerful. The Chevrolet Traverse is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 281 horsepower. The Ford Explorer can tow up to 5,000 lbs. with either its standard 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horsepower or the available 3.5-liter EcoBoost with best-in-class 365 horsepower. The Ford Explorer also has one other available engine to offer drivers, a powerful 280 horsepower 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine.

In addition to having more powertrain options available the Ford Explorer is more efficient than the Chevrolet Traverse. The Chevrolet Traverse has a larger engine, a bigger fuel tank, and still gets fewer miles per gallon. Every engine the Ford Explorer has to offer has better fuel economy ratings for having a smaller engine and being more powerful.

Ford Explorer vs. Toyota Highlander

Like many drivers in Camarillo area that are looking for a family-friendly SUV most likely need the extra seating and cargo space. Which the Ford Explorer happens to have more to offer drivers in the Santa Paula area than the Toyota Highlander. While the Toyota Highlander can seat eight passengers the third-row occupants with be cramped and uncomfortable with minimal leg room. Also when traveling with eight passengers the Highlander offers less cargo space. The Highlander offers 13.8 cubic feet of cargo space with eight passengers, 42.3 behind the second-row seats, and a maximum of 83.7 cubic feet of cargo space with all seats folded. The passengers sitting in the third row of the Highlander only have 27.7 inches of legroom compared to the Explorer which offers 33.3 inches of third-row legroom. The Ford Explorer offers 21 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row and 43.9 cubic feet behind the second-row seats.
